CRINGY 

Have you ever heard someone say something so embarrassing you even felt sorry for them? Have you been present in a situation where someone was acting so awkwardly that you wished you were nor there? If so, then you were CRINGING. To CRINGE means to feel embarrassed and ashamed about what someone is doing or saying. You can even CRINGE at yourself, but let’s be honest here, we normally CRINGE at other people (let some other person CRINGE for you…)    

 

            “His mum was dancing cheek to cheek with his best friend and he couldn’t help but CRINGE.”

 

            “She CRINGES every time she listens to his lovey-dovey comments.”

           

           

In more recent times, you can even use the verb CRINGE instead of the adjective CRINGY to describe something that makes you CRINGE.

 

            “That outfit she’s wearing is so CRINGE…”

Você já ouviu alguém dizer algo tão embaraçoso que você acabou se sentindo envergonhado (a) por ele? Você já esteve presente numa situação na qual alguém estava se comportando de maneira tão inconveniente que você desejou estar a léguas de distância? Se isto aconteceu, então você estava se sentindo CONSTRANGIDO. Se sentir CONSTRANGIDO significa ficar profundamente embaraçado e envergonhado por causa de alguma coisa que alguém disse ou fez. Você pode até se CONSTRANGER por alguma coisa que você próprio disse ou fez, mas sejamos honestos, é muito mais confortável se CONSTRANGER pelos outros (e deixar que alguma outra pessoa se CONSTRANJA por você...).

 

“A mãe dele estava dançando de rosto colado  com o seu melhor amigo, e ele estava se sentindo extremamente DESCONFORTÁVEL”.

“Ela fica CONSTRANGIDA toda vez que ele vem com aquela conversa melosa”.

“A roupa que ela está usando é realmente CONSTRANGEDORA...”.
