SNOWFLAKE

 

Basically, snowflakes are “flakes of crystal of snow”. But the term has become disparaging slang for both someone treated as precious and special or one who thinks they should be treated as such. Yes, SNOWFLAKE is a grand insult. If you ae called this way, the user thinks you’re too sensitive or that you find yourself precious. So, as a new meaning, SNOWFLAKE is a derogatory slang for a person implying that they have an inflated sense of uniqueness, are easily offended, overly-emotional, and unable to deal with opposing opinions.   

 

 

            “Don’t criticize Jane for what she did. She’s a SNOWFLAKE, and you’ll only upset her.” 

            “Stop being such a SNOWFLAKE! The party’s great fun!”           

            “Kids nowadays are all SNOWFLAKEs.”

Basicamente, SNOWFLAKES são pequenas partículas de neve. Mas o termo se tornou uma gíria depreciativa para definir alguém que se considera muito especial e que espera ser tratada como tal. Ser chamado de SNOWFLAKE é ofensivo. Quando alguém te chama dessa forma ele acha que você é uma pessoa cheia de frescura. Assim, no linguajar popular, SNOWFLAKE significa uma pessoa que se acha superior, se ofende facilmente, é excessivamente emotiva e incapaz de lidar com opiniões diferentes.   

 

“Não critique Jane pelo que ela fez. Ela é cheia de FRESCURA e vai se sentir ofendida”.

“Deixa de ser FRESCO! A festa está muito divertida!”

“Hoje em dia as crianças são cheias de FRESCURA”.
